PP01 EEC Directive "Safety of Machinery" (98/37/EC)
The machinery directive (98/37/EC) continues to apply for many products (listed in Chapter 1, Article 1) placing on the market before the 29th December 2009. Therefore, the Position Paper PP01 linked to the directive (98/37/EC) is still useful.
Products covered by the Machinery Directive (2006/42/EC) have to fulfil its requirements when they are placed on the market for first time use with effect from 29th December 2009. There was no transition period between the old and the new Machinery Directive - see PP07.
