CETOP acts as the focus point for the many years of experience of a European component-supplier industry which enjoys a very high level of success in world-wide competition. The knowledge of experts from 17 countries is available both to CETOP members and the general public in the form of various publications. These provide answers to the following question

CETOP Directory:
Among the 1,000 companies and more which are members of CETOP via their national associations, which companies offer which products?

CETOP Position Papers:
Does CETOP have a particular position, or has it issued a statement, on the effects of the various European Union Directives on the fluid power industry?

CETOP Education Recommendations:
What Recommendations does CETOP have for initial and further training in the area of fluid power? All Education Recommendations are featured on the CETOP website.

Technical Recommendations:
All CETOP Technical Recommendations (Recommendations, Provisional Recommendations and Technical Reports) are no longer available for purchase from 21st June 2002 and are officially withdrawn.
This does not refer to any Position Paper nor to the CETOP Recommendations concerning Education.

CETOP poster on ATEX
In 2008, CETOP published a poster giving information regarding the ATEX Directive and standards relating to fluid power. Meanwhile, some of these standards, especially related to the marking of products, have changed. Therefore, the ATEX poster is no longer valid. Consequently, the CETOP General Assembly in the meeting on 31 May 2013 in The Hague, Netherlands, withdrew the CETOP poster on ATEX.

Position Papers

 PP07 Machinery Directive (2006/42/EC)
This document describes the agreed CETOP position on the Machinery Directive (2006/42/EC) and its application to fluid power systems and components.
This document is an update and became valid as of 26 May 2010. Compared with the previous version of the Position Paper, there have been only minor modifications. These are described on page 3 of the document.PP07 Machinery Directive (2006/42/EC) – French version
Reference of this translation is the English version of PP 07 Machinery Directive. The translation is in the responsibility of the local association who is providing an additional service.
PP06 Finalised CETOP Position Paper “Pressure Equipment Directive – Fluids”
Withdrawn 2001. Content incorporated into PP04.
PP05 CETOP Statement concerning the Proposal for a New Draft of the “Machinery” Directive (II/4101/97 rev. 2, 21/01/1998)
This document describes the agreed CETOP position on the proposed 3rd amendment to the directive and the terminology used (e.g. ‘safety components’, ‘quasi-machine’, etc.)Withdrawn December 2009
PP04 EU Directive “Pressure Equipment” (2014/68/EU)
This document describes the agreed CETOP position on the directive and its application to fluid power systems and components.
PP03 Draft EEC Directive “Noise Emission by Equipment used Outdoors”
Withdrawn 2001. CETOP comments considered in development of EC Directive 2000/14/EC
PP02 EEC Directive “Electromagnetic Compatibility” (89/336/EEC)
This document describes the agreed CETOP position on the directive and its application to fluid power components.Withdrawn May 2008.
PP01 EEC Directive “Safety of Machinery” (98/37/EC)
The machinery directive (98/37/EC) continues to apply for many products (listed in Chapter 1, Article 1) placing on the market before the 29th December 2009. Therefore, the Position Paper PP01 linked to the directive (98/37/EC) is still useful.
Products covered by the Machinery Directive (2006/42/EC) have to fulfil its requirements when they are placed on the market for first time use with effect from 29th December 2009. There was no transition period between the old and the new Machinery Directive – see PP07.
