SUMMIT ON “STANDARDS” IN ISTANBUL


On the occassion of the World Standards Day, the CETOP member association, AKDER, held a summit meeting on "Standards" in Istanbul on 14.10.2019

On behalf of TSE Turkish Standards Institute, President Prof. Adem ŞAHİN was the host.

John WALTER, President of ISO International Organization for Standardization, Dany STURTEWAGEN, President of CENELEC European Committee, Alex STOICHITOIU, President of IQNET the International Certification Network, and Ihsan ÖVÜT, Secretary General of SMIIC The Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries, were also present.

Turkey's Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology, Mr. Hasan BUYUKDEDE also attended this meeting on behalf of the government.

Mainly, technicians and representatives of machine production companies were present in the hall. Some representatives of manufacturing companies from other sectors were also attended to the summit.

President of TSE, President of ISO, President of CENELEC, President of IQNET, Secretary General of SMIIC and Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology, they all gave general information about the importance of the standard and its place in world trade in their speeches.

In the afternoon session of the meeting, contributions to the formation of ISO standards and working systems of Mirror Committees were discussed. In particular, the works concerning on agricultural products standards was quite remarkable.

One of the main topics of the meeting has been the introduction of a new standard infrastructure projects financed by Turkey together with the EU. In this project, it was explained that the preparation and follow-up of the standard drafts will be easier and will become compatible with the EU. The studies are still continuing. It was stated that the design of this system, which is called IPAII, will probably start trial applications in 2020 and will be fully commissioned in 2021.
